Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and representing them as one’s own original work.

Authors must not use the words, figures, or ideas of others without attribution. It is considered dishonesty or fraud within academia, and offenders are subject to academic censure.

Plagiarism can be unintentional or intentional, reproducing academic material without appropriate credit to the original authors. All sources must be cited when used, and reuse of wording must be limited and be attributed or quoted in the text.

Similarly, self-plagiarism is the re-use of significant, identical, or near-identical portions of one’s own work without citing the original work. This is also known as recycling fraud. It is emphasized that the Journal considers self-plagiarism as equally unethical as plagiarism in any other form. If material is to be used from the author's previous work, standard referencing guidelines must be followed.

The worst form of plagiarism is to steal the whole article from some journal and publish it under one’s own name in another journal.

The Editorial Board of 4A Journal will blacklist any author found to be guilty of plagiarism.

We at 4A Journal use Turnitin and Grammarly to detect submissions that overlap with published and submitted manuscripts.

We check plagiarism for all the submitted articles before publishing. If the plagiarism is observed by editors or peer reviewers at any stage of the publication process, it could be rejected based on the percentile of plagiarism that occurred and it would be notified to the author and may incur sanctions.

4A Journal tolerates up to 15% plagiarism Scoring. We request our authors to use a Plagiarism Checking software to check plagiarism prior to submission as a preliminary step.

However, for review papers, the above may not be directly applicable. Review papers are expected to give a summary of existing literature. Authors should use their own words with exception of properly quoted and/or cited texts and the work should include a new interpretation.

If a manuscript submitted for publication (or a manuscript accepted for publication or an article that has already been published in the Journal) is found to be based on plagiarized material, the Editor will be obliged to write to the author(s) seeking an explanation.

The corresponding author will be required to respond with an explanation within 30 days of receiving the letter from the editor. Any such manuscript for review will be held up till the matter is resolved.

In case an acceptable explanation is provided by the author(s), the Editor may recommend appropriate changes after which the review process for the submitted manuscript may commence.

In case of failure of the author(s) to either respond within the stipulated time or case they are unable to provide a suitable explanation, the Editor will convene a meeting of the Plagiarism Committee of the Journal to consider further action.

Further action will depend upon the nature of the offense and may include rejection of the manuscript from publication along with possible debarment of the author(s) from further publishing in the Journal.

Plagiarism, if detected and proved, would be considered a punishable offense. In case of confirmation of plagiarism on an already published article, the Editor will be obliged to withdraw or retract the article from the journal website. Immediate and unbiased action will be taken by the Plagiarism Committee.
